Traineeships
the gallery on the corner provides supported employment and training in retail and customer service, and art and design for young people on the autistic spectrum.
Trainees are supported throughout their employment in skills specific to their work at the gallery as well as basic work skills. Support and training in life skills can be provided if beneficial to work.
Trainees work for a minimum of 4 hours per week at the gallery, paid at minimum wage. Trainees can complete college courses as part of their traineeship. The retail qualification includes on-the-job training, evidencing learning outcomes while at work. Creative traineeships can include on-the-job training as well as more formal art and design training at a local college.
Retail trainees learn skills that can be applied to all customer service roles as well as more specific skills about the running of commercial art galleries.
Creative trainees work with gallery staff to create commercial artwork and crafts to sell at the gallery. Example include drawing, painting, textiles and ceramics.
Recruitment for trainees is through application and interview. Trainees must be able to self-travel to work and/ or college.
